A Message from our President

I was very pleased to be asked to pen a few words to introduce the new Ramsey Model Aero Club website.

The Ramsey Model Aero Club came into being in the mid 1970s and became established on the RAF Station at Upwood under the leadership of John Long. In the early 1980s the base was taken over by the USAF and it soon became apparent that the club would have find an alternative flying site. A new home was soon found on the disused bomber station at Warboys, initially on a temporary site whilst the current field was prepared. This flying field, acknowledged as one of the best in the country, has now been in use for some sixteen years and is available to our members seven days a week.

The club has been in the forefront of aeromodelling in this country for the last twenty-five years, its members having filled a number of senior posts within the management of the British Model Flying Association as well as providing members of international teams. The club has annually hosted two major national competitions for several years now for which the controlling bodies of Scale and Aerobatics are very grateful and Ramsey Model Aero Club is held in high esteem at head office. With a membership count topping out at between 140 and 150 each year for the past ten years or so the Ramsey Model Aero Club has a bright future and I for one hope that the introduction of our new website will provide a useful tool for the promotion of the club and all that is good in aeromodelling.
