A Message from our Chairman
Stephen Kessel
The Ramsey Model Aero Club exists to provide facilities for flying fixed wing and rotary wing radio
controlled model aircraft. Our flying site is on the old RAF Pathfinders airfield in Warboys and enjoys
an excellent location in open countryside. Some of the membership is active in competitions but most
simply fly for fun. We encourage newcomers to our hobby and have a training programme in place to help
them get started. This is complemented by four club-owned training aircraft, complete with 'buddy box'
control systems, which are operated by our training team.
Members can use our flying site seven days a week and guests may fly at the invitation of and when
accompanied by a member provided that they can show that they have suitable insurance (BMFA or equivalent)
and have passed the BMFA 'A' achievement award. Likewise, members must hold the BMFA 'A' award to fly solo.
We pride ourselves on promoting safe, responsible flying.
The club strives to be a good neighbour and to this end we support local community events and
charities in our area. Last year our Chairman's Fund donated £500 to the Children's Ward in the
local hospital. Much of this was raised from running Chuck Glider competitions at local fetes.
This year the fund shall be used to provide materials and equipment for Design and Technology
classes in the local Primary School. In the past we have arranged for the local Scout Troop to
go to the BMFA Nationals. Through such activities we aim to promote a positive, responsible image
for our club and hope to encourage new people to join our hobby, especially the young.
If you are interested in our activities and would like to join The Ramsey Model Aero Club please
make contact with us via this web site. Whether you are new to the hobby or an 'old hand' you will
be made most welcome.
Good Flying!
Stephen Kessel, Chairman
